About your Parish Council

Established in 1894, Long Ashton Parish Council is one of the longest serving Councils in the country.

With approximately 6,556 residents, Long Ashton and Leigh Woods have thriving communities, and the Council aims to help develop and support their growing needs.

The Parish Council is the local authority that makes decisions on behalf of the people in the Parish. It is the local government level closest to the community, with North Somerset Council as its district authority.

The Council consists of 21 diverse members elected from the Parish for a full term of four years. The Council employs a Clerk who ensures that the Council conducts its business correctly by providing independent, objective advice and support.

The Parish Council is striving to make Long Ashton and Leigh Woods villages better places to live, work and visit, and we are proud that our Parish is now one of the most desirable places to live in the country.
